Friday SHARE program
Overview:
Because of New 2 You
Shoppe’s growth,
it has become clear that longer hours at the
store will provide additional revenue. The store
is currently open until 7pm, Monday – Thursday
and Friday until 4pm. The Friday SHARE program
is an effort to add 3 additional hours to Friday,
keeping the store open until 7pm. The Friday
SHARE idea is to involve GRCS organizations
in volunteering at the store during Friday evenings,
when finding volunteers is difficult. In return
for the helping staff the store, New 2 You Shoppe
is willing to provide a donation to the GRCS
organization providing the volunteers.
*Requirement:
Each organization
interested in assisting will need to provide
the following:
- The organization must be directly
affiliated with the Grand Rapids Christian
Schools. Applications will be approved by the
Friday SHARE committee of New 2 You Shoppe.
- Organizations
must commit to provide volunteers for the entire
month. This means that if there are 5 Fridays
in the month, their organization will provide
the needed volunteers for all 5 Fridays.
- The
GRCS organization must provide a minimum of
3 adult volunteers, one being a male. High
School students are welcome but do not count
toward the 3 minimum volunteers.
- The organization needs
to appoint one point (contact) person who is
in charge of all of the organization’s
volunteers. All communication goes through
this individual to the New 2 You Shoppe General
Manager, Steve Visser.
- Friday SHARE volunteers need
to report to the store by 4pm and stay until
the 7pm closing.
Role of the organization:
The
duties of the evening will be various in nature
and assigned by the New 2 You Shoppe day or
general manager. These duties might include
straightening or organizing merchandise, assisting
a customer, vacuuming, receiving donations,
etc. New 2 You Shoppe does not expect the volunteers
to run the store. The Friday SHARE volunteers
will be working alongside a volunteer store
staff member.
Donation to the organization:
In
return for providing the necessary Friday SHARE
volunteers, New 2 You Shoppe will split 50/50
the net proceeds of the 3 hours with the organization.
New 2 You Shoppe will guarantee that the minimum
donation an organization would receive would
be no less than $100.00 per Friday evening.
Again, that means that if the organization had
5 Fridays to fill, they would receive a minimum
donation of $500.00. Donations will be paid
the following month.
*Exceptions:
The organizations
providing the volunteers must meet all of the
requirements and be committed to fulfilling
all of the available Friday’s
in the month. If the Friday is not filled or
there are not enough volunteers, the organization
gives up the donation for the entire month.
New 2 You Shoppe is relying on the organization
to fulfill their obligation as it does not have
the resources to quickly fill in for replacements.
This pilot program will be tested in the months
of March, April and May and then reviewed to
measure its successes/challenges.
